CEN–Fourth time a charm, Episcopal Church hopes with latest Fort Worth lawsuit

A fourth lawsuit has been laid at the doorstep of Fort Worth Bishop Jack Iker by the loyalist faction in the diocese, claiming he has violated the trademark of a Fort Worth congregation for his personal enrichment and to deceive the local citizenry.

On Oct 18, the diocese reported that All Saints Episcopal Church, a congregation that had affiliated with the loyalist faction, had filed a lawsuit against Bishop Iker in the US Federal Court for the Northern District of Texas alleging the misappropriation of the parish’s name and reputation for his own personal ends.

These people are trying SO hard to get what they want. Using multiple legal avenues to confect a judgement in one’s favor is often a sign of a weak case. In this instance I have some confidence that Texas courts will see through this charade.

In addition to ‘frivolous and laughable,’ I would add ‘nebulous.’

I am from All Saints, Bishop Iker’s group.
Here is the actual lawsuit in which they request a trial jury:

Do they look like they are hurting?I think not…. Unless they are not being truthful in their reporting.
Recently, we called Fr.Pigéon to be our rector. He was fired by the school (All Saints’ in Fort Worth) last year because he would not sign the TEC loyalty oath. I wonder if the Crestline folks might be a bit nervous about that. Toming of their lawsuit is interesting. Fr. Pigéon is well respected in the community and the school. His first day with us as our rector, is Nov. 1st., All Saints’ Day.

    martin5,

The thoughts and prayers of many Anglicans are with you.

Your faithfulness under these assaults is an inspiration to us.

  5. martin5 says:

Thank you. That means a great deal to us.

  6. Henry says:

Congratulations on choosing Fr. Pigeon as your rector…he is a wonderful priest. We used him as a supply priest several times a couple of years back when he was still with the school.
