“There is no evidence to support a finding of homicide, nor is there sufficient evidence to find that Mr. [Bill] Rust committed suicide,” [Dorchester County Coroner Christopher] Nisbet said. “The trajectory of the bullet and evidence on scene indicates that Mr. Rust likely tripped while carrying the loaded weapon.”
Kendall,
I’m truly sorry for your loss. A friend of mine and a very good friend of my brother committed suicide last year. He was our hunting buddy and a great guy. It was senseless and heart rending and such a sadness that I cannot begin to describe.
As tragic as your friend’s death is, I think that knowing that it was an accident is a blessing. I still weep (right now in fact) for my lost friend that took his own life.
God be with you and give you comfort.
George
Thank you, George. As awful as this is, it does come as something of a relief because we all knew Bill to be a very careful guy and also I was worried about the potential for lack of closure, questions involving law/insurance and heaven-only-knows what else in terms of the family.
It was definitely one of the hardest funerals I have ever attended.
I wish there was something much more profound and helpful that I could say than I am so very sorry. Deep prayers for all Mr. Rust’s friends and family…
My deepest sympathy on the loss of your friend. This finding, while it won’t bring him back, will ease some of the family’s pain. He didn’t intend to leave them. That will help.
