Student with Down Syndrome crowned homecoming king

Kevin Schombert, a student with Down Syndrome, was crowned homecoming king this weekend at Urbana High School in Frederick County.

Schombert is a manager for the school’s basketball team and a huge sports fan.

    The same thing happened here in Richardson Texas. Not only was Davis Hartley elected Homecoming King, but he is on the football team. In the first play of the game, he was put in on defense and in a designed play, made a tackle. It was a great moment–congratulations to the coaches of both teams–and the students of JJ Pearce High School for selecting this special young man.
