(BBC) Women bishops law must not be changed, say campaigners

Supporters of women bishops in the Church of England have hailed the latest General Synod vote but warned against further changes to the plan.

A leading campaigner regretted the Archbishop of Canterbury’s remark that “some bits of fine tuning” were needed.

The Church’s ruling body said the House of Bishops could make some amendments to the law before a final vote in July.

The innovators spitefully must impose their optional innovation on all – regardless of the harm to fellow Anglicans. The nature of such people wihtin the church lead me to suspect that I will not die an Anglican.

[blockquote] “I think if it doesn’t go through in July there will be a quiet haemorrhaging away of women from the Church – and of men who can’t understand this either. It’s not right for the Church not to have women in leadership, and they will find it too uncomfortable to stay.” [/blockquote]
To put it bluntly, the CofE can afford to lose them. It can’t afford to lose the committed anglo-catholic and evangelical parishioners who pay the bills.

I don’t want to lose the women – in fact I don’t want to lose anybody. Interestingly half of those going through theological training now are apparently women. So, where have the men gone? Are they not getting through the system, or are they being put off by an increasingly feminised and emotion driven church experience. For that matter, where are the men in church?

Pageantmaster, “an increasingly feminised and emotion driven church experience” hits the nail on the head.

Pageantmaster, you won’t lose “the women”. You will only lose the small number of women (and men) who are committed to an extremist liberal position. And you are better off without them.
