A Prayer for the (Provisional) Feast Day of Charles Quintard

Mighty God, whose Name is blest in the example of thy bishop Charles Todd Quintard, who opposed the segregation of African Americans in separate congregations and condemned the exclusion of the poor: We pray that thy Church may be a refuge for all, for the honor of thy Name; through Jesus Christ, who with thee and the Holy Spirit livest and reignest, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

  1. Langley Granbery says:

From Co. “Aytch” by Sam R. Watkins

‘Dr. C.T. Quintard was our Chaplain for the First Tennessee Regiment during the whole war, and he stuck to us from the beginning even unto the end…He would march and carry his knapsack every day the same as any soldier…Dr. Quintard’s nature was one of love. He loved the soldiers, and the soldiers loved him, and deep down in his heart of hearts was a deep and lasting love for Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world, implanted there by God the Father Himself.’
