I remember a few years back one Anglican blogger joked about us needing a dedicated Anglican soap opera, as the Anglican World turns, or some such…
All these statements and counterstatements from and by and about the AMiA mess would keep a soap opera busy for a year with the convoluted plot turns.
So sad…, and so unnecessary, except that perhaps on the PEARUSA / ACNA side of things there may yet be some good in terms of strengthened partnership & unity and including some strong former-AMiA parishes with great church-planting experience more directly in ACNA. I’m praying for God to bring good out of what is an embarrassment and scandal. Thankful for how Abp. Duncan and Abp. Rwaje have worked together and consulted closely. That has seemed from what I can tell from afar to have been good and fruitful…
As a 16th-generation Anglican in the pews of a large AMiA-affiliated church I quite simply wish all this jurisdictional bull$#!+ would stop. ACNA have made a huge mistake with “affiliational” bishops, or whatever they call them. “Choose your bishop” — yup, there’s an effective strategy.
I don’t care if there are only six (or whatever) geographically-determined dioceses in ACNA … do it. What you’ve got now is at best a goat-rodeo, and more apparently (as the Army used to say) a monumental Charlie Foxtrot. Or FUBAR.
Okay AMiA and ACNA folks … sit on your egos for awhile. Frankly, I much preferred our simple supervision from Uganda. They were humble, wise, dedicated people. Please show me at least two of those three.
