South American Archbishop sees ”˜denial’ and ”˜hypocrisy’ in Canadian leaders’ statement

Canadian Anglican leaders are practicing “either denial or hypocrisy” when they criticize bishops who want to cross national and diocesan jurisdictions to minister to congregations that are conservative on the issue of homosexuality, said Archbishop Gregory Venables, primate, or national archbishop, of the South American Province of the Southern Cone.

“They have broken historic agreements ”“ the Lambeth Conference agreement and the Windsor Report ”“ to go ahead with blessing same-sex relationships. To use that argument against us is a bit odd, to say the least,” said Archbishop Venables in a telephone interview with the Anglican Journal.

On Nov. 29, Canada’s primate, Archbishop Fred Hiltz, and four regional archbishops, released a statement that said “we deplore recent actions on the part of the primate and General Synod of the Province of the Southern Cone to extend its jurisdiction into Canada through the Essentials Network Conference. This action breaks fellowship within the Anglican Church of Canada and the Anglican Communion.”

    “A bit odd” indeed. 🙂 I love ++Venables.

    Ingham and Hilz cite an obscure addendum to the council of Nicea about geographical boundaries, a “statute” which is not applicable in that the Anglican Church’s boundaries overlap with the Roman Catholic’s, etc., so that put ABp Venables in good company. (Perhaps we should beatify Venables.)

    Regardless, this is a petty misdemeanor in comparison to the capitol offenses of Hilz and Ingham in violating ancient traditions. Hypocrisy is an understatement.

    Should read: “which is not applicable in that the Anglican Church’s boundaries overlap with the Roman Catholic’s, etc., and also Augustine violated this statute so that put ABp Venables in good company.”

    It is also very important to realize that the ABC has himself come out in support of ++Venables action towards Canadain and US parishes (and dioceses). His qoute was seen by me from Ruth Gledhill, as seen on “Thinking Anglicans” out of the UK. I continue to search for it.

    “A reasonable way forward”, I believe.

    Canadain Anglican leadership has got some really serious problems.

    The revisionist bishops, in the pursuit of their 19th century secular and political ideals regarding human society, have ‘willy nilly’ radicalized their dioceses in defiance of Scripture, tradition and Anglican Communion-wide synodic discussion and concorde.

    The result is an Anglican Communion that is certainly divided and which is certainly becoming much more divided. The revisionists are a melange of secularly cohesive individuals who have or refuse to have a spiritual and/or theologically competent comprehension of “the Faith once given.”

    Their spiritual weakness and their theological incompotence are things that can and should be viewed with compassion and forgiveness.

    However, their secular agenda, which is an overt and evil attack upon the Body of Christ is something that only our Saviour is qualified to judge.

    But in the mind, heart and soul of this Believer, I believer that if I had done or would still doing what the secular revisionists are doing to ECUSA and the Anglican Communion, then I would be worthy of eternal condemnation by our Savior and by His Father.
