“I do not think I have ever seen a bishop as moved by the laying on of hands as I did yesterday.”
–Bishop James Adams of Western Kansas speaking at Christ Saint Paul’s, Yonges Island, about yesterday’s consecration of Mark Lawrence as the 14th Bishop of South Carolina
Do we have an official list of who the co-consecrators were? Especially the Principal Consecrator?
This says alot about Bishop Lawrence. What a blessing to the Diocese of South Carolina and to the church as a whole.
What bishop in recent history has had to go through what he did to get consecrated? The only one who comes close, ironically enough, is the Bishop of New Hampshire.
#1–this has been on the internet. Daniels from E Carolina was the chief consecrator as he is the Province head at this time. +Scott-Joynt, +Salmon, +Allison. And a Bishop from the Dominican Republic, I believe. There were probably another twenty or so present, including (that I saw) +Burton from Canada, +Kwashi from Nigeria, +Albany, +W Missouri, +ND, +Pittsburgh, +Bill Frey, +John Rodgers, +Quincy, +Fort Worth, +AL, +U-SC.
The Chief Consecrator- The Rt. Rev. Clifton Daniel, II- Bishop of East Carolina. Co-consecrators were Bishops Salmon(SC-Ret), Allison(SC-Ret.), Scott-Joynt (Winchester), Ackerman (quicy); and Holquin (Dominican Republic – SC’s companion diocese). Total bishop count was 28, I beleive, which was considered a good turnout as expressed by the bishops themselves.
Sorry, Quincy
Was Bishop James Adams (who is quoted) one of the consecrators? Silly question I realize but he does not seemed to be included in the list so far.
Bishop Adams was there and particpated in the laying on of hands but was not a co-consecrator.
How many bishops did y’all have at Christ Saint Paul’s yesterday? Sounds like fun.
All, many thanks for the information on the bishops who were present.
