That this ‘congregation’ exists and operates in the Church of Scotland is evidence that their bishop should not be invited to Lambeth.

However, most of TEC and the ACoC and many CoE, esp. RW should not be invited to Lambeth either.

+Akinola and +Orombi et al are right, there is no moral or theological justification for Lambeth or for continuing the AC as it is now.

Venables, Iker and the other orthodox who go, must do so in obedience, in the power of unity and prayerful, careful preparation, armored and armed (Ephesians 6:13-19).

May Christ and His Kingdom be magnified, glorified and victorious.

Do you get the feeling that we are losing all the battles that count? Larry

A former bishop of Glasgow, Derek Rawcliffe, ‘came out’ as gay a few years ago, and of course, the former Christian Richard Holloway was the Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church (ASA c. 10,000).
So what do you expect? Robinson’s visit, en route to his drama queen performance before the cameras at Lambeth, is just the turkeys coming home to roost.

Just FYI. ‘The Church of Scotland’ is the presbyterian equivalent of the Church of England. The anglican (non-established) church is the Scottish Episcopal Church (a very small body). The largest churches in the SEC are evangelical churches, including St Silas in Glasgow and St Paul and St George in Edinburgh. They and their counterparts are doing a superb job and represent the future of anglicanism in Scotland, because they have good numbers of the next generation in their churches. The Church of Scotland (the Kirk) is aging and struggles with its identity given that the Scottish Parliament has robbed them of much that gave them purpose — in addition to other struggles confronting the reformed churches. The Bishops of the SEC are solidly revisionist, with some minor push-back, but the largest churches are not allowing them complete scope for revision. As for VGR preaching there, no real surprises. The SEC is so small it gets much of its identity from being ‘not CofE’ and also from the myth of birthing anglicanism in the New World.

#4 You write:
“The Bishops of the SEC are solidly revisionist…”
And you also write:
“They and their counterparts are doing a superb job and represent the future of anglicanism in Scotland, because they have good numbers of the next generation in their churches..”

Wow, Teddy Mak. Have you just proven you can’t read or comprehend what you read?

““They and their counterparts are doing a superb job and represent the future of anglicanism in Scotland, because they have good numbers of the next generation in their churches..” refers to the sentence previous to it which was “The largest churches in the SEC are evangelical churches, including St Silas in Glasgow and St Paul and St George in Edinburgh.”

Beyond the moronic comment — why so bitter and spiteful?

7. Ralinda says:

Come on, it’s not “pick on Seitz” day. He said the large churches are evangelical, but the bishops are revisionist.

You’ll have to pardon me if I don’t clap my hands…….perish the thought!

9. teddy mak says:

Corrections duly noted. My apologies to Seitz.

My comment was simply an effort to clarify that this statement was confusing. “That this ‘congregation’ exists and operates in the Church of Scotland is evidence that their bishop should not be invited to Lambeth.” — I lived in Scotland for ten years and sense that as with a lot of the Communion, people do not have a very clear picture of life on the ground. I was a member of a strong evangelical clerical fellowship and the churches they led were all doing very well, as over against the liberal ones. David McCarthy+ in Glasgow has an outstanding parish. I believe P’s and G’s in Edinburgh may be the fastest growing church in the country and something of the envy of the Church of Scotland —

Ah, the ‘simple country bishop’ is simply in ANOTHER country … again!

LOL. Although we elves discourage one liners, this is one of the funniest (and all too true) comments we’ve read in a while. Touche Uncle Dino!
