Russian Church alarmed by Anglicans' decision to ordain women as Bishops

Father Igor also said that the Anglican Synod’s decision to ordain women “is a very painful blow on the unity of the Anglican community, as it is worsening a split among the Anglicans.”

Nailed it. Predictably total submission to secularism touted as some sort of NEWTHANG gozpell. And it IS a total(-ed) package, see the article below.

I generally have more respect for the Russian Church these days than the EP who has waffled on a lot of important issues. Personally I wish Alexii would just sever all contacts with the CofE as was done with the Lutheran Church of Sweden when they endorsed gay marriage.

There’s no reason at all to be “alarmed”. It doesn’t affect Orthodox at all. It makes for wistful memories of the nice times of, say, 60 years ago when there were a handful of Anglicans (names like Derwas Chitty) who were really serious about the undivided Church. Wistful doesn’t go too far today. It’s down to a thimbleful and dwindling. Once upon a time an Orthodox cleric could safely tell a layman with no access to an Orthodox parish that he might attend a local Episcopal congregation, though not take communion, since their teaching was mostly solid. Not today!
