Just doesn’t seem fair that the state that brought us President Bush should be leading the more enlightened and caring states like New York, Massachusetts, California, Michigan and so many other “blue” worker’s paradises. Looks like a strong case for the application of affirmative action to be applied to states.
#1 — First off, the Bushes are products of the Northeast. They moved to Texas much later. Secondly, GWB may have lived here but Y’ALL voted for him in massive numbers! So, don’t blame us!!!
I moved here from the Rust Belt 15 years ago and am proud to call Texas my home. It’s depressing to go back up north and see how little has changed. The unions have priced the cost of manufacturing out of the North. That’s not our fault. Wages down here might not be as high as in the north but what consolation is that for y’all when jobs are plentiful here and conservative values have kept the cost of living low, as well?
#2 — Yep! We’ve got everything we need here to make it on our own, LOL. Wind, oil/refineries, major ports, rail, big airports, three growing seasons, a good work force, etc. We have lots and lots of churches, too! 😉

Texas didn’t surprise me one bit. It’s one of the few states left where the Amderican spirit still thrives. They might have to try secession again.
