Arizon Bishop Kirk Smith: Gene Robinson's non-attendance at Lambeth an insult

Bishop V. Gene Robinson, the openly gay bishop of New Hampshire, was not invited to attend. But [Bishop Kirk] Smith said Robinson will be in Canterbury, just not at the event.

“I think it’s a very insulting thing to the American church that a duly elected bishop is told he’s not allowed to come,” said Smith, who will be attending his first Lambeth Conference.

“The vast majority of my colleagues feel quite upset. But Gene himself told us, ‘You need to go and make your case.’ He has been gracious and complied with the archbishop of Canterbury. I hope I will be able to convince some of the bishops I meet with to meet Gene, so that he’s not just a name.”

What is insulting is that VGR is a so called bishop to start with, He and all who support his ordination and later consecration are an insult to God and the church. So is this pretend bisdhop as well. They should be driving out false teaching, not being part of it. The majority of TEC has turned into a sodomite social club and nothing more, playing dress up in vestments and mocking God.

And the Clown Masses in New York are proof of that.

  3. Br. Michael says:

A farce. It’s time to walk away from both the TEC and the AC.

  4. Jeffersonian says:

In a perfect world, both VGR and “bishops” such as Kirk Smith would be invited to remain at home whilst godly men gather at Lambeth Palace.

  5. Cennydd says:

I believe that events are leading to a formal schism from the AC, and it’ll be sooner than anyone thinks.

I must say…it is too bad more liberals are not as fair and kind as Kirk Smith…he seems to me to be a real liberal, which means he is someone you can deal with and who is able to live in tension with others without having to annihilate them…the church would not be in the shape it is in if more liberals shared Kirk style of liberalism, instead of having the fascist tendencies we see in so many other bishops.

Bishop Smith is quite upset with Archbishop Williams. I would suggest that he consider that in 2006 his diocese had 25,560 baptized members which produced 538 baptisms. (Reminds me of the light bulb question.) In Arizona it takes about 48 baptized members to produce one baptism. Is it the sun, temperature, water, or influx of LGBT members? One thing for sure in Arizona: Viagra won’t provide an improvement in this dismal productivity figure. Statmann
