The interview with Eric Dudley is well worth reading, particularly for his take on “walking away.” On another thread I had wondered about what shapes the Uganda congregations and he confirms that women’s ordination was an issue for them. What also strikes me is that the Uganda congregations tend to be those who walked away from property. Whether this is because they were less of one mind to begin with (and so more unwilling to damage their existing relationships with a legal fight) or for some other reason, it’s still interesting to observe.

In a nutshell:

1) Ed Bacon: Anyone who refuses to perform same sex marriages is bigoted. Those that have left will realize the errors of their ways and return.

2) Eric Dudley: It was a struggle, but we left without the buildings and God has blessed our endeavours. We have moved on.

3) Samuel Scott Colley-Toothaker: (best priest name since Gray Temple) All is well. What the national or international church does has little to no impact upon our parish.

Quote from Rev. Eric Dudley:
I told our folks our first week, I said don’t you dare go to blog sites. Don’t do it. Stay away from it. Don’t get pulled into all that mire of anger and political tension. Leave it behind us.

Ooops, I guess I was ‘absent’ that day, and didn’t hear that. Definitely some advice I haven’t followed. Nope, not in the least. 🙂
