Telegraph: Crumbling cathedrals saved by £2.6m English Heritage grant

A total of 23 cathedrals ”“ both Anglican and Roman Catholic ”“ are to benefit from the new round of funding from English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation, a grant-making charity.

    Yes, the buildings are beautiful, and I am glad that this generous donation has been made. Unfortunately, however, England’s “Christian heritage” is just about lost. The cathedrals echo – as only empty buildings can.

    FWIW worshipping attendance at English cathedrals is growing. Again FWIW £2.6million is I’m sure gratefully received but is nothing compared to the building needs of the cathedrals.

    Maybe Bp. John Chane and his acolyte, Dean Sam Lloyd can go over there with tin cups in hand to beg for the rescue of the crumbling Nat Cat. Oh…but wait. The building is fine…it’s just all of that “human debris” that they created that needs to be repaired.
