Amy managed to write a regular on-line column that combined faithfulness to Church with zest for life. In terms of this site, she was completely orthodox, and baffled by those who found it necessary to dilute Christianity with secularity. In her spiritual reflections she draws on her experience of daily life as a wife and mother, as well as her insights as a writer and commentator. She is the author of several books (including one debunking the Da Vinci Code). Sadly, bad things happen to good people, and we are left with the mystery of suffering. May the wounds of Christ bring her healing in time. We pray for her and their children in this hour of grief.
This is tragic news. I believe Amy has several very young children. I regularly read and enjoyed her former blog, Open Book. May the Lord pour out His comfort and strength to her and the children, and may Michael be blessed in the Lord’s presence.
Just 50.
FYI, her husband was formerly a Roman Catholic priest and she wrote about this in Commonweal:

May the Lord welcome His servant into His Kingdom. May The Lord comfort and sustain Amy and family in their time of grief.
A beautiful column:

May he rest in peace, and may he be surrounded by the angels.
