USA Today: Southern Baptists urge their members to evangelize more

The Southern Baptist Convention, which is launching a new national campaign to bring unbelievers to Jesus, is up against a major obstacle: motivating its own members to evangelize.

But it may be the only effective way to reach people, according to a survey of 15,173 people by LifeWay Research, a Christian research firm.

    So the Baptists have forgotten how to evangelize? Well, I can think of a small group of people whom they could reach out to and share the Good News. There’s this little sect, with headquarters in New York, headed by a woman who wears a funny hat . . . .

    But, and far more seriously, the prospect of evangelism is one of the reasons I am in the process of leaving ECUSA. After all, if I do not think enough of ECUSA to invite a friend, or to advocate it to a friend, what am I doing there?
