Integrity applauds the preliminary slate of candidates for Bishop of Minnesota

Integrity is delighted that The Episcopal Church has opened the way for dioceses like Minnesota to field the best possible slate of candidates for the episcopate. “We hope that other dioceses will recognize that “discern for all people” really means ALL” said Russell, “and that the actions of our General Convention will put a sad chapter of discrimination against the LGBT baptized behind us.”

Read it all and note that I say the slate is preliminary because there is a petition process so there could be other nominees before the election in late October this year.

here are the bios of the candidates:

I assume at least one of them has a same sex partner? Otherwise why is Integrity happy?

oh sorry, did not see the story below this one.

Bonnie Perry has a same sex partner. She ran (and lost) in 2006 in the Diocese of California.

If it wasn’t already, I guess this means 2006-B033 is out the window, if it wasn’t before. At least in Minnesota.

If it’s “out” in Minnesota, it’s out everywhere in TEC, and in the Anglican Communion. That’s part of the concept of catholicity.

Would Integrity have withheld applause if none of the preliminary candidates had been in non-celebate same-sex relationships? Would they have condemned? If so, does this mean that it’s their understanding that the movement of the Holy Spirit is only present and reflected in episcopal elections when active homosexuals are affirmed? Is the Holy Ghost therefore prejudiced against 100% heterosexual slates of candidates?

That ripping sound you hear in the background is the fabric of the Communion tearing further.

Come on ,folks, why waste you breath on Integrity in such a cause. You know what it will say and why in a simple matter like this. Larry

Here is the LA times article saying there are now three homosexual bishops, two among the candidates for the two LA bishop openings and the one for Minnesota: http://tinyurl.com/mc6prh

I am sure that Schori, etc., who wrote the B033 has not been repudiated will be asking Minnesota and LA to withdraw those nominations.

should be “are now three homosexual bishop nominees,…”
