I don’t agree with some of Rev. Ballmer’s rhetoric or his conclusion that it’s all about women priests and homosexuals, but I agree that the move by the Vatican is cynical and opportunistic. What kept disaffected Anglicans from becoming Catholic before?
I think the first line of Rev. Balmer’s “con” says it all”
“The Vatican’s sudden overture to disaffected Anglicans strikes me as both cynical and opportunistic.”
The Vatican’s move is not sudden, cynical or opportunistic. If he believes this, then perhaps Rev. Balmer has not been paying attention.
I am so tired of the term “disaffected Anglicans”. Can’t they work on getting a new vocabulary of talking points?
