Bishop MacDonald: ”˜Catholicity Is At Stake’

The Rt. Rev. Mark MacDonald has questioned Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori’s assertion that he must renounce his orders as a bishop of the Episcopal Church because of his ministry in Canada.

The former Bishop of Alaska and Assistant Bishop of Navajoland now serves as the Anglican Church of Canada’s National Indigenous Bishop.

Bishop MacDonald told The Living Church he was “shocked and surprised” by the Presiding Bishop’s remarks on his ministry, adding that he has “written to her asking for clarification.”

“I am on loan to the Anglican Church of Canada under the PB’s supervision. I have an unofficial position, with no set authority or jurisdiction,” he said.

LOL!!! Mrs Schori’s absurd assertions (and pretensions) are now being questioned by her revising colleagues.

  2. Henry says:

It’s all gonna come back to bite her in the butt! She has been trying so hard to cover herself and it’s catching up with her!

  3. Ian Montgomery says:

What arrogant rubbish on the part of the PB. Also there is nothing in the canons about undermining TEC unless she wants to interpret the new revisions that way which is a stretch. There again maybe that is what she and Beers planned all along. Now we see the truth of TEC being a cult and not part of the Church Catholic.

  4. COLUMCIL says:

Being hoisted on her own petard! A big explosion is going to breech the wall of this absurd and so called leader of TEC. Really a rediculous position to take.

  5. fatherlee says:

This is the worst sort of Donatism.

  6. Ian+ says:

I wonder if she really understands the nature of holy orders. And if so, I wonder if she is deliberately, tacitly forming a separate communion with the Presiding Oceanographer of TEC as the P/Matriarch. This and the fact that TEC is suing the Church of South India (a body not intent on undermining TEC) to recover a relief grant, if you can believe it, because a S. India employee embezzled, puts in bold relief the absurdity of 815’s mindset.

I’m glad to see George Conger+ is still writing for TLC.
    Good work, George!

If this is how they treat their friends…

I will not be around when they come to get these folk, but what a great day that will be!

  11. Ian+ says:

    Incomprehensible, not to mention reprehensible.

  12. RichardKew says:

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave.” The Bard’s words seem peculiarly appropriate in light of this.

Well it hasn’t taken long has it? I can’t recall any of the more progressive bishops raising their voices to cry out at injustices meeted out to their more conservative colleagues. Now they are left with the PB’s unprecedented and obviously absurd interpretation of the canons and are apparently shocked to learn that it also applies to them.
