You are all in my prayers.
“Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Cor. 15:58
All blessings!
The most excellent Diocese of South Carolina has my prayers.
Prayers for South Carolina may be found here and here.
Many prayers for all. Good for y’all and your bishop! Nothing uncanonical, but lots that is really helpful.
If only the Diocese of Albany had the good sense and courage to strengthen and bolster its position in regard to 815 2nd Ave and it minions in a similar way. Our diocesan convention is coming up in June. C’mon, folks, step up to the plate and take a stand! Let’s get some resolutions into the pipeline.
LumenChristie, The resolutions are there at the Diocese of SC website which Kendall + linked in his post. Why not use the resolutions as a template for resolutions in your diocese? I do suggest asking those who wrote the resolutions permission before you just copy their resolutions.
I don’t know how your diocese works but South Carolina allows resolutions and/or amendments from the floor. Do you know any delegates to your convention? Even better have you thought of being a delegate from your parish ?? Why wait for others to step up to the plate?? Just DO IT!
Thank you SC blu cat lady.
It is not the writing or even the method of presenting of such resolutions that is the problem here. The problem is the great fear of “rocking the boat” and the desperate need to avoid alerting 815 to any hint of real resistance among us.
This Fear controls our diocese.
It is made clear to our clergy and laity alike that such resolutions are not wanted, and the presenting of any such would be considered disobedience and disrespect.
So there is no traction on any such action. And here we continue to sit.
And if I may add a personal note of sadness: I have stepped up to the plate plenty to no avail.
Hi LumenChristie. I did not know that you had stepped up to the plate many a time. I apologize. A very sad note indeed that this great fear controls your diocese. What a shame for the witness of your diocese.
No apology needed at all — how could you know what I have been up to. Please forgive me if the implied tone of my last post seemed to be less than gracious — that was not my intent. There is just an ongoing frustration with our inaction. There are a lot of brave folks — including our bishop — who will speak up when they can, (and did at GenCon 2009) but we have no plan of action at this point. Cheers to SC for setting up for a stronger position.
