Say good-bye to the NIV Bible as we know it and say hello to the updated, gender-inclusive NIV Bible which debuts in stores this month.
Mega-publisher Zondervan printed 1.9 million copies of the updated NIV Bible in this first run, up from the original 1.4 million.
“This laydown of the NIV update is bigger than we imagined,” said Chip Brown, senior vice president of Bibles for Zondervan, to The Christian Post. “A couple of retailers came in a little higher after seeing the marketing and products.”
All the more reason to switch to the ESV.
I am amazed that the NIV attracted the following it did. The ESV is the best one out there.
does the ESV include the Apochrypha? If not is there a plan to do so?
There is one ESV edition with Apocrypha:

Just as the NRSV destroyed the reputation of the RSV, this intentional mistranslation of scripture will destroy the NIV as well. This is all about the larger issue about abandoning the Word of God and replacing with something humans have decided sounds better to their ears.
I didn’t realize how bad the NRSV was until they started using it in church (basically forced by the denomination to be “gender inclusive”) and I would hear the new version compared to the RSV. You should do that sometime, it’s very disturbing how they have changed the meaning of scripture in many ways in the NRSV. It’s not just gender that gets changed, the gospel message is watered down throughout to replace what scripture actually says with a concept of group salvation.
What is next? Shakepeare? Homer? Milton? This idea that people today speak in the language of the NRSV is not true. They wish. It is a feminist translation and should be recognized as such. My guess is that this has more to do with sexual orientation problems and less to do with correctness.
