I’m sorry. I had a difficult time when I first saw this on TV.
Yes, great production values. But:
1. Polar bears are not an endangered species. Wikianswers.com (yes, I know about taking wiki with a grain of salt) says “I’m sorry, the polar bears are definitely NOT dying. in fact, their population has grown in the past few years and they are in no danger of extinction. Yes, some environmental groups say they are endangered but they are not.”
2. Purchasing a “Leaf” will have zero effect on the extent of sea ice in Northern latitudes. The amount of carbon “saved” is more than made up in the additional pollution involved in the manufacturing of the car and its batteries.
2. Don’t ever, *ever* try to hug a polar bear.
I think Tamsf’s summary is great — but ome missing point is that a very high proportion of electricity is generated from carbon rich sources … coal and oil.
And once the losses inherent in the processes used to converting coal and oil to electricity and the losses in the transmission system, and the carbon involved in making the batteries etc are taken into account, electric cars actually reduce carbon emissions very little indeed.
And all that is said on the assumption that CO2 is actually causing global warming — something that is very, very far from proven in the scientific literature.

And ALL computer generated! (i.e. not “natural” or green.)

But lovely photos of a polar bear!!!
No matter what you think about anthropogenic global warming…that was a cute commercial.
I thought the polar bear was looking for an air conditioned car to stay cool in!
Bear thinks: ‘Not much meat on this seal – but it’ll do.’
