Oh dear, a sharia apologetic designed to make the GOP candidates look bad.

    [blockquote]
“More than a specific set of laws, sharia is a process through which Muslim scholars and jurists determine God’s will and moral guidance as they apply to every aspect of a Muslim’s life. They study the Quran, as well as the conduct and sayings of the Propet Mohammed, and sometimes try to arrive at consensus about Islamic law. But different jurists can arrive at very different interpretations of sharia, and it has changed over the centuries.”[/blockquote]

She may have missed the part where the “sayings of the Prophet” are not believed to be his words at all, but they come straight from on high.

#1 she is mostly likely referring to hadith, sayings of Muhammad which do not have the same authority as the Qur’an.

It doesn’t make GOP candidates look bad, No. 1, unless they are either ignorant or opportunistic enough to try to make political hay out of this sharia malarkey. I can remember a time (although I am getting a bit long in the tooth), when the Republican Party was the pragmatic, internationalist party. This sharia boogey man stuff would have gotten laughed out of any room in those days. I’m not sure that’s the case any more.
