Committee members continued to meet on Capitol Hill to present legislation that could be voted on by the Congress to cut $1,200bn from the budget over 10 years.
But both sides had already begun to blame each other, with Republicans resisting tax rises in any form and Democrats demanding extra revenues be balanced against spending cuts on the grounds of fairness.
Let the blame game begin (er, actually continue).
1. This was a total farce from the start. There was never going to be a deal because Obama doesn’t want a deal. Now he can continue to run against the “do nothing congress”. Which is good for him since he certainly can’t run on his record of [no] accomplishments.
2. The incidental portion of the farce is that there were no cuts in spending proposed by anyone. All of this has been hot air over REDUCTIONS IN FUTURE SPENDING LEVELS.
No real spending was going to be cut, not even defense. Future defense spending is always going to be higher…..just not as high as currently planned. And SSN, Welfare, Medicaid, Obamacare??? Why more and more money for them to.
Keep digging folks, I can almost see Greece!!!!
