Yet again the grim title of “world’s greatest humanitarian crisis” goes to Sudan ”“ this time for developments in the border regions between Sudan and the newly independent country of South Sudan. The crisis is exploding as the rainy season descends fully upon this area, and humanitarian resources are overwhelmed.
Khartoum’s denial of all humanitarian access to rebel-controlled areas within its border, along with a relentless campaign of aerial bombardment, is generating a continuous flow of tens of thousands of refugees ”“ up to 4,000 per day according to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). But even that June figure is being quickly overtaken, according to reports.
And no wonder. The regime faces no significant international condemnation or consequences for its role in creating this crisis. That must change.

Why is there/was there highly vocal condemnation of Libya, Egypt and Syria and currently not the same level of focus on the Sudan?
What is the difference between the first three and the Sudan?
Oh, I get it. It was all about the supposed Arab Spring in the first three and it is only about Christians in the Sudan.
As a matter of fact in Libya, Egypt and Syria (?), Christians are singled out for Muslim persecution. But th’s OK with the State Department. No problem here, move on, move on.
How stupid of me.
I forgot that in the current Administration, Christians are a suspect group and Muslims are a protected demographic.
I can’t make the “read it all” link work to discover who wrote the article. It amazes me that many people simply cannot accept that, for much of humanity, the extermination of ones enemies is a feature not a bug. Sad. Been that way since the fall.

Christian Science Monitor – by “Eric Reeves, a professor at Smith College, has published extensively on Sudan, nationally and internationally, for more than a decade.” Picture of Secretary Clinton in bright blue suit with the President of South Sudan who is wearing a black cowboy hat.

Look’s like a ‘whistle stop’ ‘photo op’ to me.
Sudan is a ‘back burner’ or at best a ‘side burner’ issue with the current administration.
