Maybe the “something else” will be the encouragement of parishes to rent their sacred spaces to the local Muslim communities without mosques. The rent monies might help keep the lights on in local parishes.
Maybe the “something else” will be a trial liturgy for Polys and Incests because, you know, we need to tear down the barriers that keep people from worshipping God. Besides, their pledges and gifts will help keep the lights on in local parishes.
Maybe the “something else” will be getting serious about the need to proclaim the Good News in Christ . . . wait, what was I thinking!
I’ve noticed the same interpretative method being used in all the sermons from the Executive Council meeting, Namely abstract so totally from the historical particularity of Scripture’s words, or holy figure’s lives, that all that is left is a contentless placeholder: in this case the obviously vaporous “something else”. Then fill the placeholder with whatever are the current priorities of TEC leadership – currently “structural reform” and “inclusion”.
