The Church should be a “movement of prayer” which creates “collateral blessing”, the Archbishop of Canterbury (above) said on Monday night. He was speaking at New Wine, a Charismatic Evangelical festival in Somerset, which he and his family attended for 12 years when he was a parish priest.
“The US Army gave us the expression ‘collateral damage’, which means killing people you did not mean to target,” he said. “People seeking Christ create collateral blessing. That means changing the world for the better, in ways you could not have predicted.”
Archbishop Welby continued: “There has never been a renewal of the Church in Western Europe without a renewal of prayer and the life of religious communities. Never. And if we want to see things changed, it starts with prayer.”
In all kinds of settings he reiterates his God-inspired objectives, which he is restructuring Lambeth (and neutralizing the spoilers) to accomplish:
1) reconciliation within and through the church
2) renewal of the church through prayer and the in filling Spirit
3) re-conversion of England, the evangelization of the nations
The first two are means to the third. All of this an answer to prayer.

Motherhood and apple pie? Nice things, I understand.
There has never been a renewal of the church, or indeed the ancient nation of Israel without a return to God and obedience to His Word, but sadly it does not appear that Welby intends to be obedient to that, but instead is intend on leading the CofE to its destruction as the Church of the David-Cameron-Right-on-New-Thang. That is what all of his moves at Lambeth Palace to bringing in Mr and Mrs Sam Wells to his other appointments and machinations have been designed to achieve.
Tragic waste under someone who in his earlier days showed much promise…….before he went to Liverpool and became a liberal catholic and is now in full swing working on the subversion of the charismatic evangelicals begun under the Oysterbouches.
