In California Black clergy both for and against gay marriage speak out

“Marriage is between a man and a woman,” said Dr. Frederick K.C. Price, who leads the 22,000-member Crenshaw Christian Center. He urged his audience to “stand with God in saying the definition of marriage must not change.”

A few miles away at Lucy Florence Cultural Center in Leimert Park, a much smaller group of ministers — three, as it turned out — spoke against the measure. Among their arguments: that African Americans, given their history of discrimination, should not be taking away rights.

“Same-gender marriage is a civil rights issue,” the Rev. Eric Lee, president of the Southern Christian Leadership Council of Los Angeles, said at a recent event.

Since when is “gay marriage” a civil rights issue from a religious point of view? According to the bible gay acts are abomination, and a gay marriage I can’t imagine being celibate. The folk thinking Obama is on their side not matter what that side is are badly mistaken. He says no to prop 8 and no to gay marriage? Isn’t that kind of doubletalk? Oh! I almost forgot, he is a politician so he can have opposing views on the same subject. When I look at the “minister” standing in front of the No to 8 signs, I see where the No support comes from, an alledgedly ordained woman. When will people get over the “rights” issue. I don’t recall Christ establishing civil rights as it is. It is just like the folk advocating womens ordination because of equal rights. Ordination is NOT a “right” for anyone, but is a great privilege and responsability at the same time.

The comments of these pastors reveal their position, opposed or in alignment with the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ.
‘Rev.’ Eric Lee does not feel he should obey God’s Word nor does he ‘confess’ (agree with God about the harm and evil and destructiveness of sin). It is evident that Lee follows the word of his own thoughts and of the prevailing mind of culture. There is no evidence that he is right…but much evidence in science, medicine and Scripture that he is wrong: depression, disease, early death…eternal separation from God.

Sex is biological. ‘Gender’ is one of several borrowed words, like ‘gay’ and ‘sexual-identity’ ‘orientation’ that were introduced into the public consciousness for propaganda purposes.

In reality, our identity changes over our lifetimes and all sexual and behavioral responses are conditioned mental associations and responses and are changed by re-conditioning.

All humans who are born onto this earth (unless they are reared in loving Christian homes) are born sinful, become disoriented and mis-directed responses due to spiritual, emotional, relational dynamics and conditions in their home, to their parents, grandparents and others wounds and sins, to events and conditions……that is why the Church was directed to, through the love and power of God, to make disciples. Scripture teaches us that Jesus saves us from ALL sin (Hebrews 7:25; I Corinthians 6:9-11)

Many churches fail in discipling process and do not address the traumas and wounds that sin has created, the mis-directed passions, behaviors, attitudes, thought patterns and the identity disorientations that have occurred from birth onward. Fatherlessness, feelings of abandonment, confusion and ambivalence toward parents (especially the same sex parent), self, life, others contribute to same-sex hunger which is only one of the disorientations. No biological or genetic causation has been proven. The human being, comprised of spirit, soul (mind, will, emotions) and body is so complex that a single cause can be shown. We are constantly changing spiritual, physical and emotional ecosystem…we change cumulatively, interactively by every thought, word and deed.

This is exactly why we must believe and adhere to God’s word, trust in His love, His heart and good will.

Civil partnerships are a provision in 15+ nations around the world. These accomodate the legal concerns of homosexual couples, but in none of these countries are these partnerships called “marriage.” Read this: http://college-ethics.blogspot.com/2008/07/civil-partnership-does-not-marriage.html
