  1. New Reformation Advocate says:

Any comments on your rector, Sarah Hey? (Or anyone else in that big congregation). How does he compare with former rector Bob Dannals+?

    David Handy+

  2. Dan Crawford says:

Is Fr. McLeod related to the first female bishop of Vermont?

  3. GMS says:

[blockquote] 15. What advice would you give to a young person just starting out? The same advice I would offer anyone: Recognize God in every person. [/blockquote]

    What’s that mean?

  4. advocate says:

Yes Dan, Fr. McCloud is Bishop McCloud’s son.

  5. advocate says:

That would be McLeod. I really shouldn’t type after my bed-time. Sheesh.

  6. Doug Martin says:

GMS; only Fr McLeod can answer that, but my guess, corrupting scripture a bit I am sure, would be “do not Judge them”, “love them as you love yourself”, and “do unto the least of them as you would do to Me”.

  7. David Keller says:

#1–Harrison is a nice guy and basically orthodox. He was very pastoral to me personally after GC, although he offered me no hope that Christ Church was going to do anything about the actions of General Convention. I hear he was very upset about Waldo’s election. Christ Church hasn’t paid its full diocesan “asking” since 2003. I suspect Waldo is going to come down hard on Christ Church, and Harrison will undoubetedly be the guy taking the hits from Waldo/diocesan staff. Christ Church is a very interesting social institution, but is still one of the most conservative churches in the diocese. Christ Church is basically a microcosm of South Carolina–too big to be an insane asylum and too small to be a country.

  8. New Reformation Advocate says:

    Thanks, DAvid (#7).

FWIW, I was interviewed for an associate position at Christ Church in the mid 1990s, during Dannals’ tenure. Needless to say, I didn’t get the job. That was probably best for everyone; I wouldn’t have been a good fit there.

  9. mc74 says:

    “corrupting scripture I’m sure..”

Doug, I would certainly hope that you aren’t ascertaining that Fr. Mcleod’s response involves corrupting scripture. How are you so sure that he would twist the word of God? Apologies if I’m reading your response incorrectly-but if I’m not-that seems extremely presumptuous of you. What has he done to make you think he’s a revisionist?

  10. David Keller says:

David–Bob could be very difficult. Most of the assistants during his tenure stayed for a very short time. Christ Chuch has a huge Social aspect to it. Sometimes it feels like the Sunday morning extension of the Counrty Club; but there are a lot of very faithful people there.

  11. David Keller says:

#6 and 9–The article was in Greenville Talk, a light weight social publication. This wasn’t a deep theological deal. In fairness to Harrison, I don’t think you can make any determination of his theology based on this “interview”.

The comments above really sound to me like something best kept for a private email conversation rather than a public blog.
