One Episcopal Rector Writes his Parish About recent Anglican Developments

This was an accident waiting to happen. In a way it is almost surprising that it took seven years from the ordination of Gene Robinson, a partnered gay man, as bishop of New Hampshire, for a second such incident to occur. That event has been seen as tearing the fabric of the Anglican Communion, which has been held together in little more than name ever since. Is this the final nail in the coffin? Will the Anglican Communion be torn apart by intractable divisions?

The fourth Anglican Global South to South Encounter is set to take place in Singapore, April 19-23. The current situation in the Episcopal Church is not their principal focus. Yet they represent the large and growing majority of Anglicans in the world, and the primates (archbishops) and others who will be present are unequivocally committed to Resolution 1.10 of the 1998 Lambeth conference of bishops, which remains the official position of the Anglican Communion….

Many of the provinces (national church bodies) represented at this Global South encounter are already out of communion with the Episcopal Church or in “impaired communion”. Please pray for these godly brothers and sisters as they prepare for this important gathering.

Pray also for the Archbishop of Canterbury, and also for the godly bishops who still remain in the Episcopal Church, such as our own Visitor Bishop, Russell Jacobus of the Diocese of Fond du Lac. And let us believe that the God who raised Jesus Christ from the dead is more than able to bring light into this dark turn of events, to bring good out of evil, and breathe life into a culture of death.

Read it all.

    Accident? Incident? No: canonical process.

  2. Br. Michael says:

No, this was no accident. It is the start of more of the same and is the end result of 30-40 years of effort.

  3. Cennydd says:

I too view this as no accident. For over forty years, the revisionist heretics, aided and abetted by their LBGT allies, have planned and schemed for this an inch at a time, to quote Susan Russell, and now it is about to happen. What will ++RDW do about it? Not a blamed thing! Oh, yes, there’ll be more statements of regret, and there may even be a threat or two, but unless the Global South primates take matters in hand and speak out against TEC and their cronies, there’ll be no changes, and things will muddle along as usual.

There’ll be paradigmatic fireworks issuing from Singapore this April…

Of this there should be no doubt!

Pray for such faithful pastors who worry for souls in their care.

I agree that the consent to the election of Mary Glasspool is no accident. If any one thinks this election and consent is an accident, where has that person been for the last few decades ? My mother said it quite plainly: “Incrementalism will win the day”. She understood that change will happen one small decision at a time until the overall direction of many in the church is going is no longer recognizable as Christian. It has happened. Sad indeed. Yes there are few godly Bishops left. How long will they last before everyone one of them is deposed? Of course, they will be deposed inspite of the canons not because of them.

This is truly a very dark time for us Anglicans. WE need the light of Christ more now than ever before.

I’m absolutely disgusted right now – both with Congress (healthcare reform) and TEO. Fom my vantage point, the similarities between two bodies are striking: Both are enamored by their own celebrity; smug in their righteousness; disdainful of those who find their “prophetic” actions somewhat suspect; deaf to those who warn about the consequences of their actions; equate opposition to actions with hatred by those who oppose; blithely malign anyone who does not heartily support their positions; tout that their majority is created by a democratic process – thereby inferring that their positions have the imprimatur of the Trinity…and the leaders in both organizations are only too happy to throw whomever under the bus in order to advance their agenda.
One more thing: The Presiding Bishop and the current President attained their respective offices with minimal experience, rendering both ill-equipped to competently discharge their duties. Coincidence?
Dude – where’s my church? Where’s my country?
