“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” I Cor 15:58
The savage attack on December 18, 2010 in the Jerusalem forest where Kristine Luken was killed and Kay Wilson seriously wounded, has shocked family, friends and the community of Christ Church Jerusalem.
Kristine, a US citizen, worked for CMJ (Church’s Ministry Among Jewish People) in Nottingham UK and was a frequent visitor to Jerusalem. She had an infectious love for God and a great admiration and love for the Jewish people and the Holy Land. Recently, she studied Jewish history and the Holocaust on a CMJ sponsored tour of Poland.
Kay Wilson is the main educator for Shoresh Study Tours, a ministry of Christ Church Jerusalem, specializing in teaching the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. She is a well-loved guide and a gifted communicator as many Shoresh participants will attest. She is also an accomplished jazz pianist and artist. We ask that you join us in prayer for Kay’s ongoing recovery. We will be organizing practical help for Kay as her needs become apparent.
On Thursday December 23rd at 4 p.m. we will hold a memorial service for Kristine at Christ Church in the Old City. We are creating a memorial for Kristine in the Christ Church Heritage Center, a ministry she loved. (Donations gratefully received). We also ask for prayer for Kristine’s family.
In life Kristine was a faithful follower of Jesus and gave herself fully to the work of her Lord. In the midst of grief and great sorrow, we know Kristine’s life and work were not in vain and we take comfort in the promise of eternal life through the resurrection of Jesus the Messiah.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
This is grim news indeed. My parish has had over a decade of close ties with Christ Church Jerusalem. I have taken three study tours with Shoresh, bringing my two, then-high school-aged, daughters along on the last one, two years ago. Kay “Kishkush” Wilson was our guide. My daughters in particular made friends with Kishkush, who has a great gift for reaching young people, in addition to being a brilliant expositor of the significance our Lord’s Jewishness to the proper understanding of what He reveals in scripture. You will learn things from her that you’ll never get from a book. And there’s nothing to compare to learning it where it all happened. Kay is a marvelous teacher with a great love for her adopted homeland and her fellow Jews. And of her Lord and savior.
Christ Church herself is a remarkable place, dedicated to the love and service of the Jewish people – Christ’s own people – and to the proclamation of the gospel in the one place in the world graced by our incarnate Lord. When GAFCON attendees were unable to enter Jordan, it was Christ Church who scrambled to accommodate them and so essentially hosted the GAFCON conference. Theirs is a world-wide ministry on the front lines against forces of darkness, as witness the attack on Kishkush and her friend. Please keep my friend Kishkush and the entire Christ Church family in your prayers.
Agreed. Let’s keep them all in our prayers. CMJ do great educational work, and help the Church to discover its roots.
Christ Church Jerusalem may become the new ‘Canterbury Cathedral’ of the developing ‘Gafcon Communion’.
To add to this:a lot of agitation in the Anglian world, taking the Palestinian side, has only alienated many Jews from the Gospel.
So who did this terrible deed? Was it the IDF? No? Then who?
It can’t possibly be anyone from the “oppressed” people groups in the area.
Police: Probably a terrorist attack, but investigation is ongoing.

Inasmuch as she was wearing a star of David, and was deliberately stabbed in the spot where it hung, Kay Wilson also made Kiddush Hashem.
