Canada Scores very Highly in the Global Better Life Index

All in all, Canadians are a pretty comfortable and happy lot.

The country ranks at or near the top in many of 11 well-being indicators in a new quality of life index, unveiled Tuesday by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. Only Australia topped Canada.

“Overall, I think Canada seems to be a pretty good place to be,” said Matthias Rumpf, an OECD spokesman in Washington. “But,” he cautioned, “it shouldn’t make them complacent about everything.”

Being aware of the state of the orthodox Christian faithful in Canada and the outright hostility they face for their beliefs I am not overly impressed. The frog in the warm water would probably describe himself as a happy and comfortable as well.

Life is good here, except for the growing anti-Christian hostility. But it’s not nearly as bad as a lot of non-Canadian commentators make it out to be. Still, it is growing.

Paula, I’m curious about how you’re “aware”. I with Ian+’s comment that “it’s not nearly as bad as a lot of non-Canadian commentators make it out to be.” Some Canadian commentators have a political axe to grind as well. I’m heading back to Canada in three weeks after spending a couple of years in the US and don’t expect to face more “outright hostility” for my beliefs than I have in the US.

I am basing my judgment on certain cases I have read about. Honestly the exact details don’t come to mind but I think one involved Mark Steyn? I also believe religious freedoms are being compromised by the view that GLTQB rights are of paramount importance.

Mark Steyn? Well that would explain everything.
