–From Nate Silver of the New York Times 538 blog on the day in September where one poll had President Obama 14 ahead in Wisconsin, and another had Romney ahead by 3 in New Hampshire.

    The polls, and pols, have been broken for some time. The 2004 exit polls are the most obvious example. Bad enough that nearly everybody was expecting a different outcome. One hopes, but does not expect, that the various agencies will take long, hard looks at their performances after the election.
