The Rev. Lucinda Laird, pastor of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, used to say she would never leave her job ”” unless she got a call to be pastor of the American Cathedral in Paris.
“It’s like saying, ”˜Unless I fly to the moon,’ ” Laird said Friday. “It’s not possible.”
Except it is….
[blockquote] “In 2009, St. Matthew’s began blessing same-sex relationships, and the Episcopal Church has since authorized such ceremonies throughout the denomination.” [/blockquote]
And this is the “priest” who has been picked to head the American Cathedral in Paris?
I am praying that the Lord will raise up orthodox Anglicans who have a heart for the gospel in Europe, and who are prepared to establish missions there which bypass or ignore the existing structures, in particular the TEC-affiliated churches.
Europe desperately needs the gospel, and I believe that Anglicanism is well-placed as a vehicle for the gospel which Europeans will respond to.
May it happen soon.
