Oregon replaced Washington, D.C., which had held the top spot for the previous five years as workers sought out government jobs. The nation’s capital fell to fourth place last year, tying with South Dakota.
Other top destinations for those seeking to relocate included South Carolina, with 60 percent of moves made for those coming into the state, North Carolina (58 percent), and Nevada (56 percent).
“Business incentives, industrial growth and relatively lower costs of living are attracting jobs and people to the Southeastern and Western states, such as South Dakota, Colorado and Texas,” said UCLA economist Michael Stoll.
I can understand why people move to South Carolina as I made that move myself 16 years ago. but Oregon???? Anyway, it is interesting to see where people are moving.
If we get rid if the income tax we’ll get even more.
See, we don’t even have to engage in cannabis tourism to get people to move here.
I lived in Oregon for a lot of my adult life. Really sad how many people in that state have no interest at all in Christianity or ANY kind of religion. Over 40% of Oregonians (including those affiliated with a religion) seldom or never attend services.
#4–In just downtown Greenville, South Carolina an area of about 1 square mile we have about at least 10 churches which have muliple servies and are often full. I bet Greenville County has well over 1000 (or more) Christian churches of every stripe. This is true in most places in SC. Another good reason to move here!
Having moved my US residence to Charlotte in 2010 (where I share a house with my brother whenever I am Stateside), I love being close to the SC border. Cheap gas for one thing….! But also wonderful friendly people, great food, beautiful coastline, Charleston… It’s a lovely part of the country that I’m thoroughly enjoying exploring in the brief times I spend in the States on leave from my work in Africa.
And I can’t resist… GO PANTHERS!!!!!! 🙂
