Episcopal rector in the Pittsburgh Diocese put on leave

The Rev. David Wilson, rector of St. Paul’s Church in Kittanning, Armstrong County, was placed on leave Saturday. During the three-month leave he will not serve either as church rector or in his position as president of the diocese’s standing committee, which advises the bishop.

“The diocese upholds a very high standard of behavior for its ministers,” diocesan spokesman Peter Frank said. “While the behavior involved inappropriate language, it technically falls within a policy that demands zero tolerance.”

this article needs more information. What did he say? Is there a political barund we should know?

I don’t need to know what was said. I need to know there is accountability. I need to know there is repentance.

I really can’t provide any more information on the specific situation, but it is probably worth quoting our statement to diocesan clergy regarding Fr. Wilson’s role on the standing committee.

“While Fr. Wilson’s role as President of the Standing Committee may be interrupted by the requirements of his leave in the short-run, it is anticipated that he will exercise the duties of his office until that term’s completion in December of 2008.”

Please do keep all of us, especially David and St. Paul’s in your prayers.

now juxtapose this with +Sisk and his letter about the late +Paul Moore. Conservatives generally do not make excuses for others, as +Duncan admirably demonstrates…..

David is a good man and I am sure he is grieved by his words. It sounds like this episode is already on a redemptive trajectory. The Diocese of Pittsburgh is in our prayers.

Mr. Frank declined to provide details.
    NO! Give us details!!!

I’m guessing he said the f-word. In which case, we don’t really need to know. But if he said the n-word, it’s a a bit of a different story…
