Officials with the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin sought to dismiss persistent rumors that Bishop John-David Schofield of the Anglican diocese will be uninvited at the last minute to the Lambeth Conference of bishops.
“Rumors are just that,” said the Rev. Canon Bill Gadenberger, canon to the ordinary of the Anglican diocese. “The invitation is still valid. Yet much is still happening, GAFCON was fantastic and gives us much of what we need for the future…
“I must remain to do other important ministry here, such as our youth leadership camp, Camp H2O,” he said. “Bishop Schofield has tickets to leave for London next week,” Canon Gandeberger said via e-mail on July 13.
Hmmm… rumour on other blogs is that there is still lots of behind the scenes stuff taking place and negotiations are at a delicate phase. Watch this space…
Will Lamb also go? Did Schori force Lambeth to issue him an invitation as well?
#2 – yes

It is immaterial whether or not +Schofield’s invitation is recinded. At least one other uninvited guest will be hanging around somewhere close (in what appears to me to be a possible case of that nassssty border-crossing thing) . . .
Well, I’ll admit to being one of the offenders and spreaders of rumors over at SF. But there is indeed more going on here than meets the eye. For example, please note the careful phrasing of Canon Gandeberger. Yes, +John-David Schofield “has tickets to leave for London.” Those plane tickets were bought some time ago. The problems have arisen since then. I hope he does end up going and being admitted.
But I won’t indulge in spreading partial and potentially misleading information here, as I now regret doing over at Stand Firm in the last couple of days. But I know for a FACT that his presence at Lambeth was very much in doubt over the last few days. Eventually, the truth will come out. But in the meantime, speculation isn’t helpful, so I’ll refrain from saying more.
