On March the 12th 1994 the first women were ordained as priests in the Church of England at a service in Bristol Cathedral. The group was made up of 32 women, among them the Reverend Prebendary Angela Berners-Wilson. She talks about her memories of the day and how life has been since her ordination.
A rather shallow piece, I thought. I would have welcomed deeper questioning. For example, many women in the campaign for ordination said that they wanted to end the male way of doing things, that their ministry would be different. So I would have wanted to ask, has it been different? If so in what way? Or have you found that a well-trodden path is easier to maintain? And given the challenge of ordained ministry, I would have wanted to ask, how has it changed you? What has been rewarding, what has been difficult?
