  1. Kendall Harmon says:

    From WJS:

One of my cube-mates at work is a faithful, conservative Catholic. We often have lively conversations, generally agreeing in most matters, but dividing along Catholic/Protestant lines on dogma, doctrine and a few finer points of morality (the use of artificial birth control within a marital relationship, for instance). We agree far more than we disagree, and respect each other’s faith, and our right to hold differing opinions.

I saw this story on the web this afternoon, and mentioned it to my colleague. He shrugged, and acknowledged that priests are human beings. They have their failings, as do we all. That this individual has struggled with his vows, his ministry, and his affections, and appears to be seeking a way to maintain his ministry (for which he has a clear gift) while seeking a more honest expression of his affection for this woman is not nearly the level of scandal that KTF [a reference to the bishop-elect of Michigan] as a bishop would represent to the Body of Christ.
